Shooting, Fishing and Boating
posted in Family |Yesterday afternoon’s activities consisted of three boys with guns, then five kids with fishing poles.
Granddad said teaching two kids to fish is hard…teaching five kids to fish is impossible. Jon said, “Welcome to our life!”
Sister Bishop arrived today as we were finishing lunch. She was rarin’ to get out to the pond and catch the “big one”. Unfortunately today wasn’t her day.
Everybody tried anyway.
Zeke was Sister Bishop’s faithful fishing companion today.
As I walked to the house to check my laundry this is what I saw in the barn.
On my way back out, here is what I found.
Part of the way across the yard Granddad asked the kids, “Are you pushin’ or pullin’?”
Nathan replied, “We’re pushin’, but Abbie might be pullin’!”
They made it to the pond…and waited patiently while Granddad made final arrangements.
After deciding who would get to go and where everyone would sit, they were off.
Last night Mom and I went to ladies’ Bible study at the church. When we got home the house was mostly dark, there was a sleeping Granddad in his chair, three big boys in the den with no sign of the smaller children, and a distinct lack of a father. At least no one was crying, I guess.
We’re having a good time and looking forward to all the yummy food tomorrow…I am anyway!
