About the middle of July when it was nice and hot, the boys decided they were going to make a swimming pool. It wasn’t long before they were asking me to come and take a look at it.
They dug a hole under the rope on the fort last year so all they had to do was add a tarp and some boards to keep it in place and fill with water. Ha! That was pretty funny. They filled up a 5 gallon bucket several times and lugged it across the yard. That lasted all of about 3 days.
It wasn’t long before they started talking to their Dad about getting a real pool. He told them that if they would level out the space in the back yard where the garden used to be that he would buy them a pool. He gave them some dimensions and a little bit of instruction on where to start. Caleb and Luke hit it hard for about a week and made a lot of progress. Jon and I were both really surprised at how hard they worked.
After all the good progress Caleb hit the wall and declared that he was done. He decided that he’d worked harder than anyone and wasn’t going to do anymore. Jon tried to get Nathan to help, but that didn’t get very far. Nathan didn’t want anything to do with the project from the beginning. To be fair, he did go out and work a couple of times.
When Nathan wasn’t out helping, Luke was trying to do what he could. He was cracking us up and causing us to fear for our lives, all at the same time.
Since Caleb quit there hasn’t been much progress made. If they don’t get back to it they’re going to have to do something about the half pit out there. Maybe now that it’s cooled off a little they will try to get to work again. Guess we’ll see.
