January 26th, 2013What else has been going on?
We’ve keep busy with our normal, daily activities…school, laundry, cooking, cleaning…all that fun stuff.
The last couple of weeks I’ve been struggling to keep motivated to do school, but have managed to press on and keep the kids on track. They don’t deal well with the lack of schedule when we don’t do school so I try to get some in each day, even if it’s only a couple hours. Things seem to run better that way.
Last weekend while the guys were at Men’s Retreat, Haley and her kids came over here. We had a good time, as always. She and I spent quite a bit of time on Saturday making meals to freeze so that I won’t have to worry about cooking after the baby gets here. She’s such a great friend! She came and helped me cook (and did dishes) and didn’t even get anything out of the deal…all the food went in my freezer. We ended up with close to 20 meals/meal starters, I think. It’s pretty exciting! I hope to make a few more casseroles to freeze in the next couple weeks.
But don’t fret…Haley and I didn’t spend our whole weekend cooking. We played games and ate lots of cookies and cheesecake.
On Saturday night we gathered all the kids and played a couple rounds of Uno. It’s fun that they’re getting big enough for a bunch of us to play together.
This week we actually did take Monday off from school. I went to Target and got the last few things we needed for the birth and then I spent the afternoon making sure it’s all in one place. That was the first bit of “nesting” I’ve felt yet. Mostly I’m just glad to have things together.
Friday afternoon the homeschool group I’m a part of had a baby shower for the three of us ladies who are pregnant. It went really well and was a lot of fun! Those ladies are so generous…Jon and the kids were surprised at the stuff I brought home.
Oh…look at what Abbie made in her science class at co-op.

They’re studying flying creatures of the fifth day of creation. Obviously this week was about nests. The kids have to walk down the hall past the room where I help with Preschool to get to the bathroom. I looked up one time and saw Abbie, through the window in the door, with chocolate on her fingers up to the second knuckle. She was so happy! They’re having a lot of fun in that class.
Now to wrap up this random post, here’s a picture of Abbie.
She cracks me up when she gets all dressed up to go outside and play in the snow.

Those are great photos. I can’t believe how big everyone is getting…. I wish our kids lived closer… I think my kids would enjoy that
God be with you and I will be praying for your birth! Can’t wait to see a picture of the new Smith!
