January 7th, 2013Ladies’ Christmas Tea Party
It all started sometime in November. I got to thinking that it would be fun to do something special for the ladies in our local church since we haven’t been having ABM meetings for several months. We used to enjoy getting together a couple times a month to visit and pray with each other.
So naturally I talked to my right-hand lady and she thought it would be a great thing to do.
From there it just kind of snowballed. We talked about all kinds of ideas, shared multiple pictures from our shopping trips, mailed out invitations and somehow managed to pull it all together.
Here’s what the invites looked like.
These were the hand-delivered ones…they were awfully chunky!
These went in the mail because they were a little flatter.
And the inside, just because I love the swirly with the snowflake.
On December 8th, Haley and I hosted a Christmas Tea Party for our local ladies, plus a couple special guests from Fountain. We spent several hours decorating the church. It’s funny how Haley and I have the same weird perfectionist tendencies when it comes to things like this. We were both thrilled when all the decorations were finally up.
Here’s the entryway.
What event, with Haley, would be complete without some sort of blow-up something?!
Before our guests arrived.
Haley insisted that we must have a fireplace so she set one up on her iPad and put it on the tea counter.
Look at her pretty tea service. Jamey could not believe that it belonged to Haley. She was sure it was Sister Mary’s. She was surprised that Haley owned something so “girly”. ![]()

Some of our yummy treats…snowflake sugar cookies and a cheesecake snowman.

How cute is that?! The top was mint chocolate (Andes mints under the cheesecake…YUM!), the middle was plain and the bottom was raspberry swirl. We also had a meat, cheese and crackers tray, but it wasn’t as photo worthy as these.
And then guests began arriving. Brother V, of course, couldn’t just drop Sister Mary off. He had to poke his head in and see what was going on. Guess it was just too girly for him…he didn’t stay long.

We loaded up our plates, filled our mugs and settled in for an afternoon of visiting.
We also had little gifties for each lady…a paper mug filled with chocolates.
And a star ornament. It was actually a banner we had hanging on the wall, but we took it apart before the ladies left and they got to keep a star.
It was a really nice, relaxing afternoon! I’m so glad we did this and that all the ladies were able to join us.

How cool. Can I come live there. I wish I had a group to do something like this with. I can’t believe Cathy never told me about this. It was all so beautiful. The snowman looked delish. You guys did a great job.

Oh, my goodness!!! It’s so pretty!!! You guys did a REALLY great job! You and Haley are quite the team! I would have LOVED to have been there! The decorations are so pretty, the food looks great and all the special touches you added with the invitations and star give-aways, etc . . . It’s just “WOW!” We should do something like that here. Except I’d probably be the one to have to do it, and I don’t know when I’d have time.
Thanks for sharing all the great pictures.

That is soooooo neat, Emilee!!! I don’t even LIKE girly things and the term “tea party” usually makes me cringe, but this one looks FANTASTIC! Maybe it’s because of the snow theme.
I love all of your special touches, like Mom said–the star banner/ornament thing (so cute!) and paper mugs. Everything is so pretty and non-traditional Christmassy–I guess because of all of the blue and white instead of red and green. I love the white tree and icicle lights and snowflakes and little candles–and the cookies (please tell me you bought them–they’re too pretty!) and snowman cheesecake are amazing. Oh, and it seems wrong to not mention Haley’s snow-globe fixation. Ha! It’s GREAT that it was included. And the invitations are ADORABLE. I love it all. Wish I could have been there!!!

Wish you could have been there too, Becki!
The cookies are not store-bought…I spent way too many hours making them myself. But they had to match the theme.

YOU MADE THE COOKIES???? With all of the intricate little snowflake lines??? I can’t even imagine!!! They’re GORGEOUS–and I happen to know that they tasted fabulous. (I know the recipe, yes?) WOW. I can’t decide if it makes me love you more because you’re so amazing or if it makes me hate you for being so much better than the rest of us. Ha!

Who wouldn’t LOVE a Snowman Cheesecake!! All very pretty. My sister used a projector in a Christmas play to put the fireplace on the wall. The room seemed warmer even tho’s it’s digital. Ha! However, an Ipad screen will do too! Great job ya’ll.

Tammy and Mom, I wish you both could have been there too!
Sister Tammy, we talked about using the projector to put a fireplace on the wall, but I honestly thought it was going to be too cheesy. Then all of a sudden Haley had this one on her iPad. She cracks me up!
